What Is The Best Android Phone?

What’s the Best Android Phone? We’ve come up with 8 Contenders:

  • SonyEricsson Xperia X10(wikipedia). It has an 8.1-megapixel camera, weighs less than five ounces and SonyEricsson claims that it is capable of as much as 10 hours of battery talk time per charge.
  • Samsung Galaxy S (wikipedia). It will run on Android 2.1 and Samsung’s own 1GHz processor, have a 5-megapixel camera and will be able to handle 720p HD video.
  • HTC myTouch 3G Slide(wikipedia). The latest entry into T-Mobile’s line of myTouch 3G Android phones, features a new slide-out keyboard, 3.4-inch color screen, 5-megapixel camera, version 2.1 of the Android OS, improved battery life, an 8GB memory card and a Swype/slide-your-finger-on-the-screen keyboard system.
  • Garminfone (wikipedia). A joint effort with Asus, it’s the best smartphone navigation system today — with Android 1.6 that focuses on mapping and location-based services (LBS).
  • Verizon Droid (wikipedia). A slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a terrific 3.7-inch screen, 16GB of built-in memory, turn-by-turn GPS travel instructions, loads of video extras and an Arm Cortex A8 600 MHz underclocked to 550 MHz.
  • Google Nexus One (wikipedia). The Nexus One was the first phone to be updated to the latest version of the Android OS 2.2. It boasts a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen and has a 5-megapixel camera. Also manufactured by HTC, the Google Nexus One is only sold on Google’s Web site for use on T-Mobile’s 3G network.
  • HTC Droid Incredible (wikipedia). HTC’s smartphone made for Verizon’s EV-DO 3G network. The Incredible sports a great 3.7-inch screen and shares a lot with its big brother, the EVO 4G — like a 1GHz Qualcomm (QCOM) Snapdragon processor, an 8-megapixel camera and HTC’s Sense home screen look and feel.
  • Sprint EVO 4G (wikipedia). Powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and running Android 2.1 with a beautiful 4.3-inch screen, an 8-megapixel camera, 720p HD video output and, of course, access to Sprint’s super-fast 4G network.
